Client Notice: Continuity during the 2021 lockdown
Throughout these uncertain times, we want to ensure our clients that we are still operational during our normal working hours (9am-12pm, 1pm-5pm). Our staff are all now working from home, with full access to emails and our phone lines, and our office is closed to all visitors and clients.
To ensure the protection of our team, and clients, Firth & Scott are continuing with the following measures:
- No clients or other visitors will be permitted to enter our office
- We will not be making visits to see clients other than in exceptional circumstances, for example a significant claim
- We encourage all clients who don’t already to provide us with an email address to do so to allow us to send documents electronically
- We will not be accepting cash or cheque payments as these have to be taken to the post office
If your usual contact with us is face-to-face, or you cannot pay your premium by card or transfer, please call us to discuss this, and we can propose an individual solution.
We at Firth & Scott do not want our clients to be left without Insurance cover because they are not able to leave their homes, so please get in touch. If you are unable to contact us yourself, please ask a representative (such as family member, or friend) to do so. We would encourage you to keep an eye on our website for updates and developments.
Wishing everyone good health,
The Team at Firth & Scott.
Driving in the EU Post-Brexit: Green Cards Explained.
While the Coronavirus pandemic has dominated much of the headlines this year, the end of the year, and Brexit, is fast approaching. With just weeks to go until the end of the Brexit transition period on 31st December, UK motorists (including road hauliers) will need to carry an insurance Green Card when driving their vehicle from 1st January 2021 into the EU. This is unless the EU Commission decides that the UK remains part of the Green Card Free Circulation Zone post-Brexit, but so far, this has not been agreed. PI Insurance and Defamation
Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance covers individuals or organisations who provide professional services. Sometimes things can go wrong, and can lead to great expense, either for the client or your business. This could lead to claims originating from things such as breaches of professional duty, negligence, or just plain human error. However, when taking out PI insurance, you are not only protecting yourself from claims against like these, but also against the damages that can come from defamation. Cybercrime: The Rising Risk of Ransomware
Cybercrime is on the rise. The latest trends are seeing ransomware as the most prevalent type of cyberattack. Even if you have an IT team on hand, or use a cloud to store data, you are still just as vulnerable to cybercrime. Both Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Application Service Providers (ASPs) are experiencing an increase in severe cyberattacks, as are most businesses in the UK. According to Checkpoint, a leading provider of research in cyber threat intelligence, the UK has experienced an 80% increase in ransomware attacks in the past quarter. MSPs and ASPs are a key target as they provide a gateway for hackers to a multitude of businesses and network servers.
